Deborah is designing November’s quilt in the Love Circle of do. Good Stitches.  Through an organization called Wrap Them in Love, our circle of 10 makes quilts to benefit children who need a little extra love and attention.  This month, Deborah has asked for scrappy improvisation blocks in pinks, greens, yellows, and oranges.

November do Good Stitches 3

Of all the quilt styles out there, this kind of improvisation is my favorite, both to sew as well as to look at.

My right angles aren’t perfect, but there’s an order that emerges when I try to keep everything more or less in squares and rectangles.

I’ve tried the crazy-quilt style of improv, and I struggled a little more with the piecing of that approach.

Either way, these were fun, and I’m excited to get them done early this month!

I really love the colors and prints you picked. Very lovely. And thank you for linking to the tutorial. My scraps are starting to take over! Time to make a scrap quilt.

I’m glad the tutorial is helpful, DeeDee. My scraps are taking over my space, too! I’m wrestling with which system will be best for me (by color and as they are… or trimmed to specific sizes). Good luck putting yours in your next scrap quilt!

These turned out so lovely, Daisy! Glad you had fun making them. Looking forward to putting this quilt together once the blocks start rolling in. Guess I’d better get down to the business of making my own blocks for this month 🙂
