The heart pattern is finished!

Petal and Plume Heart

For my second sew with this pattern, I fully intended to have a low volume background with a bright red scrappy heart. When I sat down to sew though, these Bari J’s new Petal & Plume kept calling me – I’m a sucker for gorgeous blues and the Art Gallery blenders complimented the Petal and Plume so nicely.  The key to picking out fabrics for this block is keeping just enough contrast in your colors and patterns so the shattered glass/Cubist look come through.

I’m listing this for half off in my Craftsy shop till the end of the holiday weekend.  Enjoy!

Congratulations on another finished pattern! The second block might not have been what you intended, but it matches really well with your first block, and I love how the background color placement is reversed.

What a lovely block! I was going to ask how big the finished block is, but I see at the bottom that it’s approx. 10″ square? I definitely may have to take advantage of your sale and buy it! It would make a great tea cozy wall using Yvonne’s tutorial (9″x12″… but 10″ should be able to be finagled a bit to fit that!).

What beautiful blocks. I am just teaching myself paper piecing and I would love to try these. I am a new blogger and am trying to get the whole site figured out – I hope I can find you again – LOL Thanks for sharing these beauties. I have been called by the Petal & Plume line as well – I see a navy/fuchsia/lime/white quilt sometime in my future 🙂
