Fat Quarter Shop has a new pattern, Layers of Charm, and they invited me to put together a project to help introduce the pattern. As the name suggests, the piecing goes together quickly with the help of layer cakes (packages of 10″ precut squares) and charm packs (5″ precut squares).
Have you heard about Fat Quarter Shop’s 24-hour flash sales? I took advantage of one just before Christmas and purchased layer cakes and yardage of their Bella Solids for this quilt. I also picked up a jelly roll to use for binding.
Fat Quarter Shop carries all colors within the Bella Solids line, and I decided to use admiral blue, nautical blue, navy, blue, indigo, french blue, sea, and bubblegum.
My precut squares were ready to go, and once I finished cutting the remaining yardage into squares, the piecing was fast.
I bound the quilt with Bella Solids in Navy.
I backed the quilt in a soft gray jersey sheet, and quilted a grid with a blue 50 wt from Connecting Threads.
The Layers of Charm pattern has directions for several sizes: table runner, crib quilt, lap/throw, queen, and king, and the Fat Quarter Shop has a video tutorial to help you get started.
