There’s something serendipitous about this block – I’ve been feeling a little double-crossed lately.

The new year promised so much productivity and project progress, but I got knocked down by a terrible cold. Then, an 8-family camping trip to Chicot State Park delivered fun times and, upon return home, a quick descent into terrible flu symptoms.  I’m catching up on deadlines, and it feels so good to be sewing again.

This first deadline is my block for do. Good Stitches Love Circle. Through an organization called Wrap Them in Love, our circle of 10 makes quilts to benefit children who need a little extra love and attention.

Allison at Savage Pink picked our block design and palette this month. When I first read the description of her palette, I was a little unsure, but after gathering fabrics, I’m sold on this bold gem-like combination.

And the improv Double Cross block by Pam Rocco has just the right amount of precision (little) and wonkiness (lots) to make for a quick sew. Tutorial for the Double Cross block is at Quilter’s Newsletter. Allison requested we leave our blocks untrimmed, so there are my edges in all their original, untrimmed glory.

Now, off to chase down some more deadlines. Hope your new year is off to a wonderful start!

Cheers!
