Daisy Aschehoug

I’m Daisy, and I currently live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Like ants to sugar, I just can’t stay away from fabric and thread. This website contains pictures of my sewing projects which include quilty things and the occasional handmade bag or wall hanging.  My favorite compliment is when someone says they want to make something after seeing one of my blog posts, so you’ll find lots of links to patterns, fabrics, and tutorials.  I love helping you connect with what you need to satisfy your creative endeavors!

I have two quilts hanging in Quiltcon 2016, and I’m scheduled to be included in a few magazine publications later this year.  I’m currently the Vice President of the Baton Rouge Modern Quilt Guild. I recently started working a few hours a week at our local quilt shop, Red Stick Quilt Shop, and you can find me cutting fabric, curating exclusive bundles for your projects, and teaching classes there.

I’m also a former whitewater kayak instructor, wildland firefighter, group facilitator, and district court mediator.  My current job doesn’t involve running a chainsaw or mediating messy divorce agreements, but chasing two little ones is no less exciting.

I’m on Flickr, Instagram, and Periscope as @antstosugar, and I’d be delighted to see you there!

Hi Daisy, I love your blog. It’s full of fun surprises. You’ve done some amazing things during your career. Wildland Firefighter. Is that the same as a jumper? I wrote an article for kids on fire jumpers. That is a job where you are really giving your life for the public and the environment. As you can see, I am impressed. But quilting has wonderful benefits too. In addition to blogging and quilting, I am a part-time public librarian, book reviewer and children’s book author. I don’t write books anymore, but I do write reviews for a national journal. I love your block square in squares. Your inspiration page is fun, and I love the fabrics you put together. I’m glad I stopped by. I posted as part of the hop last week. I hope you are having as much fun as I did. Nice to meet you.
